Schubert & Salzer – Type 8050 – GS3 Sliding Gate Valve
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Schubert & Salzer Type 8050 GS3 is a manually operated sliding gate valve designed for precise on/off and throttling control of liquid and gaseous media in industrial applications. It uses a handwheel actuator to drive a sliding disc across a fixed disc, providing accurate flow regulation with low actuation force — even under high differential pressure conditions.
The GS3 series is offered in a flangeless wafer-style body that self-aligns between ASME B16.5 and DIN EN 1092-1 flanges. Available in stainless steel and carbon steel constructions, the Type 8050 handles media temperatures from -76°F to +662°F and is rated to ANSI 150, 300, and 600 pressure classes. It meets the requirements of TA-Luft 2021 for fugitive emissions and is available with optional ATEX non-electrical marking for hazardous area installations.
Features & Benefits
- Sliding gate design delivers precise flow control with high Cv-values across a wide size range
- Low actuation force enables simple, reliable manual operation — including at high differential pressures
- Flangeless wafer body (ANSI B16.5 RF and DIN EN 1092-1 Form B compatible) minimizes installation length and weight, especially in larger sizes
- Exceptionally low leakage rates — IEC 60534-4 Class IV-S1 achievable with carbon/stainless or SFC disc pairs
- Wide temperature range: -76°F to +662°F media temperature; -22°F to +212°F ambient
- Multiple disc material options (SFC carbon, STN2) allow matching of valve to media compatibility requirements
- Self-adjusting PTFE packing (carbon-filled) with stainless steel spring for consistent stem sealing
- Optional metal bellows (316 Ti) provides secondary stem sealing for critical or zero-leakage applications
- Meets TA-Luft 2021 requirements; ISO 15848-1 tested for shaft and body sealing
- Optional ATEX non-electrical classification: II 2G Ex h IIC T6…T1 X Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC 85°C…530°C X Db
- CRN Certificate, EU Declaration of Conformity, and UKCA Declaration of Conformity available
- Stroke indicator provides visual position reference during operation
