Overview
The Schubert & Salzer Type 4040 is a pneumatically actuated ball sector valve engineered for precision control and on/off service in demanding process environments. Designed to handle contaminated, abrasive, viscous, and pasty media, it delivers exceptional performance where conventional control valves fall short.
With an extraordinary rangeability of 300:1 and high Cv values up to 4,454, the Type 4040 provides reliable, repeatable flow control across a wide range of process conditions. Available in sizes from 1″ through 12″, it is constructed of stainless steel throughout and integrates directly with standard pneumatic quarter-turn actuators via DIN/ISO 5211 mounting.
Features & Benefits
- Extraordinary rangeability of 300:1 — provides stable, accurate control across a wide flow range, reducing the need for multiple valve sizes
- High Cv values up to 4,454 — supports high-capacity flow applications with minimal pressure drop
- Almost equal percentage flow characteristic — delivers predictable, linear control response throughout the operating range
- Suitable for abrasive, contaminated, and viscous media — ball sector geometry resists clogging and wear from challenging process fluids
- Easily exchangeable seat ring — simplifies maintenance and reduces downtime when seat replacement is needed
- DIN/ISO 5211 actuator mounting — allows straightforward retrofitting of pneumatic quarter-turn actuators without special adapters
- Optional volume booster Type 4090 (6″ and larger) — reduces valve response time for faster process control
- Optional ATEX-rated explosion-proof configuration — available for use in hazardous area classifications
- Wafer-type body design (1″–10″) — compact face-to-face dimensions simplify installation between standard pipe flanges
- Single-acting or double-acting pneumatic actuator options — supports both fail-safe and standard control configurations
- Compliant with TA Luft / ISO 15848-1 — meets stringent fugitive emissions requirements
