Overview

The Schubert & Salzer Type 8037 GS3 is a motor control valve specifically designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, rated per EG 94/9 directive for Ex zones 1, 2, 21, and 22. Unlike other GS3 motor valves that offer ATEX as an optional non-electrical add-on, the Type 8037 is built from the ground up for hazardous area service with flameproof and increased safety enclosure construction — Ex de (ia) IIC T6/T5 or T4 for gas zones and Ex tD (iaD) A21 IP66 T80°C for dust zones. The IP66 protection class provides enhanced ingress resistance beyond IP65 for added reliability in demanding explosive environments.

Available in sizes 1/2″ to 10″ with stainless steel (CF8M / 316L cover) or carbon steel (WCB / 316L cover) body options, the Type 8037 is rated to 145/580 psi, 1,450 psi, and ANSI #150, #300, and #600. Media temperatures range from -76°F to 662°F with special versions available on request. Thrust ratings of 1 kN, 2.5 kN, and 5 kN are available with a wide voltage range of 24–230 V AC/DC.

Features & Benefits

  • Purpose-built for potentially explosive atmospheres — rated per EG 94/9 directive covering Ex zones 1, 2, 21, and 22
  • Gas protection class: II 2G Ex de (ia) IIC T6/T5 or T4 — flameproof and increased safety enclosure for IIC gas group (hydrogen service)
  • Dust protection class: II 2D Ex tD (iaD) A21 IP66 T80°C — for explosive dust environments
  • IP66 protection rating — higher ingress resistance than the IP65 standard on other GS3 motor valves
  • Three thrust ratings: 1 kN, 2.5 kN, and 5 kN — the highest maximum thrust in the GS3 third-party motor valve series
  • Wide voltage input range: 24–230 V AC/DC for flexible electrical integration in hazardous area installations
  • Dual body material options: stainless steel CF8M / 316L cover and carbon steel WCB / 316L cover
  • Broad size and pressure range: 1/2″ to 10″, up to 1,450 psi and ANSI #600
  • Media temperatures from -76°F to 662°F with special versions available on request
  • Wafer-type body for compact installation between standard flanges in hazardous area piping
  • Analog stroke feedback, position electronics, limit switch, and metal bellows accessories available
  • TA-Luft / ISO 15848-1 fugitive emissions compliance — standard approval
  • CRN Certificate, EC and UKCA Declarations of Conformity available
