Schubert & Salzer – Type 8090 Adjustable Sliding Gate Orifice
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Schubert & Salzer Type 8090 is a continuously adjustable sliding gate orifice designed for precise, repeatable flow rate control in demanding industrial applications. Built on the GS3 platform, it features a compact wafer-style intermediate flange construction that fits between standard ANSI or DIN flanges without added face-to-face length.
The Type 8090 can be manually adjusted and secured directly in the installed position during operation, making it well suited for hydraulic balancing, commissioning, and flow-setting tasks across cooling, energy, and process systems. Available in sizes from 1/2″ to 10″ with pressure ratings up to 1450 psi, it is offered in stainless steel and carbon steel body options.
Features & Benefits
- Infinitely adjustable in the built-in state — allows precise flow setting without removing the valve from the line
- Manual adjustment with integrated safety device — lockable position prevents unintended setting changes
- Defined characteristic curve — consistent, predictable flow behavior across the adjustment range
- End-position stops — mechanical limits protect the disc pair and prevent over-travel
- Space-saving wafer (intermediate flange) construction — installs between standard ANSI or DIN flanges with minimal footprint
- Very lightweight — simplified installation and reduced pipe loading compared to full-body valve designs
- Insensitive to cavitation — sliding gate disc geometry minimizes cavitation damage in liquid service
- Low packing leakage — stem sealing tested per TA-Luft 2021 and DIN EN ISO 15848-1
- Optional sealable configuration — external locking nut and locking plate available for tamper-resistant installations
- Stroke indicator included — visual position feedback at a glance
