HTS Krom Schroder Direct Fired Furnace Burners – BIC..L
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Honeywell BIC..L is a series of excess air, direct-fired furnace burners designed for industrial thermoprocessing applications requiring precise temperature control and consistent product quality. Operating on a nozzle-mixing combustion principle, gas and air are mixed only at the burner head, producing a high-velocity flame suitable for uniform heat distribution across a wide range of furnace geometries.
The BIC..L series supports ON/OFF cyclic, staged, and modulating control modes across a capacity range of 85 kW to 440 kW. With excess air capability up to approximately 1,500% (λ ≈ 16) and outlet velocities up to 250 m/s, the series delivers high turndown performance in demanding thermal process environments. Installation is horizontal or angled, and the burner is built from cast steel for durability in high-temperature service up to 1,250°C.
Features & Benefits
- Capacity range 85 kW to 440 kW — covers a broad range of direct-fired furnace applications from smaller batch processes to higher-output continuous systems
- Excess air operation up to λ ≈ 16 (~1,500%) — enables precise atmosphere and temperature control in sensitive thermal processes
- High outlet velocity up to 250 m/s — promotes strong recirculation and uniform heat distribution within the furnace chamber
- Nozzle-mixing combustion principle — gas and air mix only at the burner head, providing stable combustion and flexible control
- Direct spark ignition — eliminates the need for a separate pilot burner, simplifying system design and reducing components
- Flame rod supervision standard — provides continuous, reliable flame monitoring integrated directly into the burner
- Modulating, staged, or ON/OFF cyclic control — adapts to varying process demand and control system architectures
- Preheated combustion air capability up to 250°C — supports heat recovery integration to improve overall system efficiency
- Cooling/purge air flow when off — 2 to 6% of rated air flow maintains burner cooling during idle periods, extending service life
- Cast steel construction — robust material selection for long-term reliability in high-temperature furnace environments
- Horizontal or angled installation — flexible mounting orientation accommodates various furnace configurations
