Schubert & Salzer – Type 5020 Segmented Disc Valve
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Schubert & Salzer Type 5020 is a pneumatic segmented disc valve designed for precise control of liquids and steam, including media contaminated by particulate matter. Its wafer-type, flangeless body fits compactly between standard flanges, making it well-suited for both new installations and retrofit applications where space is limited.
Available in sizes from 1″ to 12″ (DN 25–DN 300) and rated for fluid temperatures from -76 °F to 428 °F (-60 °C to 220 °C), the Type 5020 delivers a high rangeability of 60:1 with a modified linear characteristic and near-zero leakage. Two actuator platform options — the standard pneumatic actuator and the compact MZ actuator — allow the valve to be configured for a wide range of system requirements.
Features & Benefits
- Suitable for particle-contaminated fluids — the segmented disc design resists clogging and wear in challenging media
- Bi-directional sealing — tight shutoff in both flow directions with leakage below 0.001% of Kvs
- Controllable against flow direction — provides flexibility in installation orientation
- Space-saving wafer design — flangeless construction reduces face-to-face length and overall system footprint
- High Kvs values — delivers strong flow capacity across the full size range
- 60:1 rangeability — wide control range with modified linear flow characteristic for precise throttling
- Low-noise operation — segmented disc geometry minimizes flow-induced noise and turbulence
- Robust all-stainless construction — wetted components in treated stainless steel 1.4112 for corrosion resistance and long service life
- NAMUR-compatible positioner mounting — compatible with digital positioners including IO-Link, Ex-Pro, and integrated process controller (IPC) versions
- Optional ATEX non-electrical explosion-proof rating — available for hazardous area installations
