HTS Hauck – Self-Cleaning Micro Oil Valves MOV
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
Hauck’s Self-Cleaning Micro Oil Valves (MOV) are engineered to produce accurate, reproducible linear flow control of oil to any type of industrial process. The MOV series is intended for flow control service and is not a replacement for a dedicated shutoff valve — a ball or solenoid valve should be provided in the fuel supply line for tight shutoff.
The MOV valves are available in two model series. The S Series is an angle valve configuration with all models UL listed, while the AS Series is designed for straight-through piping applications. Both series handle all grades of fuel oil — No. 1 through No. 6 — and support both manual and automatic flow control actuation.
Features & Benefits
- Self-cleaning operation — as the flow indicator is moved, a cleaning pin clears foreign obstructions from the crescent-shaped V groove of the valve disk, ensuring clog-free performance without disassembly
- No constricted flow orifice — eliminates a common cause of valve clogging and reduced burner firing capacity
- Factory flow tested for accurate, reproducible flow rates
- Linear flow characteristic — each dial division delivers a proportional increase in flow at constant pressure drop
- Suitable for No. 1 through No. 6 fuel oil, including heavy residual grades when preheated to proper viscosity
- Available with manual or automatic flow control — hand wheel for manual adjustment over full 180° dial range; adjustable radius lever supplied for automatic/motorized actuation
- Case hardened metering components for long service life
- All S Series valves are UL listed
- UL listed valves pressure rated to 300 psig (2070 kPa)
- Large, easily readable indicator dial enables precise setting and repeatable resetting to any position
- Designed for maintenance-free operation
Technical Specifications
- Flow characteristic: Linear
- Fuel compatibility: No. 1 through No. 6 fuel oil (heavy grades require preheating to approximately 90 SSU / 1.84 × 10⁻⁵ m²/sec)
- Valve actuation: Manual (hand wheel, 180° range) or automatic (control motor linkage, typically 0–90° range)
- Automatic control lever: Adjustable radius, 1-1/8″ to 4-3/8″ (29 to 111 mm)
- Automatic control linkage: 3/8″ (9.5 mm) rod connection via snap connection pin
- Valve connections: Female, threaded for standard pipe
- UL listed S Series pressure rating: 300 psig (2070 kPa)
- Approvals: All S Series valves UL listed
- S Series valve body orientation: Angle configuration
- AS Series valve body orientation: Straight-through configuration
- Note: Model S-3-1610 capacity is not linear over the entire valve position range and does not include the self-cleaning feature
Applications
- Industrial process burners requiring accurate fuel oil flow metering
- Modulating burner systems with manual or automatic flow control
- Oil-fired combustion equipment — boilers, process heaters, and furnaces
- Systems handling light to heavy fuel oils (No. 1 through No. 6)
- Retrofit installations replacing conventional oil control valves
- Any application requiring reproducible, graduated oil flow adjustment
Models / Configurations
- S Series – Angle valve body configuration; all S Series models are UL listed and pressure rated to 300 psig (2070 kPa); includes self-cleaning feature (except model S-3-1610)
- AS Series – Straight-through piping configuration for in-line installation applications
MOV Accessories
- Shutoff Valve (Ball or Solenoid) – Required upstream of the MOV in the fuel supply line for tight shutoff service; the MOV is a flow control valve only and is not rated for shutoff duty
- Fuel Oil Filter – Recommended downstream of the shutoff valve and upstream of the MOV to remove debris and prevent clogging
- Control Motor – External control motor mounted to a rigid support for automatic actuation; connected to the MOV adjustable radius lever via 3/8″ rod linkage
