Schubert & Salzer – Type 8049 Digital Positioner
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Schubert & Salzer Type 8049 is a compact digital positioner designed for mounting on pneumatic linear and quarter-turn control valve actuators. It features a top-mounted, direct-attachment design that eliminates external stroke linkage components, and delivers near-zero stationary air consumption in the regulated state — minimizing ongoing compressed air costs.
Configuration, diagnostics, and live monitoring are handled through the “DeviceConfig” PC software, which enables self-adapting stroke and zero point calibration without manual adjustment. The Type 8049 is available in 2-wire, 4-wire, and ATEX/FM-certified intrinsically safe versions, with optional IO-Link communication and an integrated process controller variant.
Features & Benefits
- Direct “top-mounted” attachment to the valve actuator — no external stroke linkage exposed to the environment, improving reliability in harsh conditions
- Self-adapting stroke and zero point adjustment eliminates manual calibration and reduces commissioning time
- Near-zero stationary air consumption (less than 0.06 Nl/min for 4-wire version; less than 0.4 Nl/min for 2-wire) — significantly reduces compressed air operating costs
- Compatible with linear actuators (3–28 mm standard stroke, up to 50 mm optional) and quarter-turn rotary actuators, single- or double-acting
- Input signal options include 0/4–20 mA, 0/2–10 V, and IO-Link for flexible integration with modern control systems
- DeviceConfig PC software provides live monitoring, diagnostic data, stroke history, error messages, cycle counts, and operating hours
- Reverse hysteresis as low as 0.2% (standard 0.4%) for precision flow control
- IP 65 protection class for use in wet, dusty, or outdoor industrial environments
- Available in ATEX (Zone 0, 1, 2) and FM-certified intrinsically safe versions for hazardous area installations
- Multiple body material options including standard aluminum/polymer, stainless steel ground plate, or fully stainless steel construction
- Optional integrated process controller (IPC) version eliminates the need for a separate external controller
