Overview

The Schubert & Salzer Type 7078 is a pneumatically actuated pinch valve designed for handling contaminated, granulated, viscous, doughy, and aggressive media. Its pinch mechanism isolates all metal components from the process fluid, with the only wetted material being stainless steel 316L (or PVC on cement socket configurations), making it well-suited for corrosive and abrasive service.

Available in sizes 1/2″ through 2″ and rated to 87 psi operating pressure, the Type 7078 is also certified for sanitary and aseptic applications under FDA and BfR compliance. The compact design features a rotatable actuator bonnet for flexible installation orientation and is available in normally open or normally closed configurations.

Features & Benefits

  • Pneumatic actuation with rotatable bonnet — allows flexible orientation to suit installation constraints without reconfiguring piping
  • Stainless steel CF8M body (non-wetted) with all fluid-contact components in 316L stainless steel — provides corrosion resistance across aggressive media without contaminating the process
  • Interchangeable tube materials (EPDM, NBR, FKM/Viton, SBR) — allows customization of chemical compatibility and temperature range to match process requirements
  • FDA and BfR compliant tube options — qualifies the valve for sanitary, aseptic, and food-contact applications
  • Additional piston rod sealing — prevents leakage to atmosphere in the event of tube failure, protecting the actuator and surrounding environment
  • Removable position indicator — provides visual confirmation of valve state; compatible with optional electrical or inductive position feedback accessories
  • Normally open or normally closed configurations available — supports failsafe design requirements
  • Double-acting option available — enables positive control in both open and closed directions
  • Multiple connection types — pipe thread (ISO 228-1 / NPT), inner sticking socket PVC, welding ends (DIN or ISO), and Tri-Clamp (inch) available to suit system piping standards
  • CRN Certificate — registered for use in Canadian pressure vessel applications

Applications

  • Abrasive and slurry media — granulates, limestone slurries, sludges, and powder conveyance where metal-seated valves would wear rapidly
  • Aggressive chemical service — acids, alkalis, chlorine solutions, and caustic soda where tube material can be selected for chemical resistance
  • Sanitary and aseptic processes — food and beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications requiring FDA/BfR compliant wetted surfaces
  • Viscous and doughy media — pastes, margarine, butter, and similar high-viscosity products
  • Wastewater and water treatment — handling of suspended solids, sludge, and treated effluents
  • Pulp and paper — fibrous suspensions and process chemicals
  • Gas and vapor service — pneumatic conveying, steam, and gas flow isolation

Type 7078 Accessories
