Overview
The Honeywell Thermal Solutions Menox / BIC..M is a low-NOx direct-fired gas burner designed for high-temperature industrial furnace applications. Featuring a cast steel housing with a silicon carbide ceramic tube connection, the BIC..M series operates in both standard flame mode and menox® flameless combustion mode, enabling significant NOx reduction when furnace temperatures reach 850°C (1562°F) or higher.
Available in burner sizes 50 to 140 with capacity ranging from 35 to 420 kW, the BIC..M series accepts natural gas as the primary fuel and supports preheated combustion air up to 450°C (842°F) in menox mode. The series is engineered for roller hearth, heat-treatment, and continuous industrial furnaces operating at furnace temperatures up to 1250°C (2282°F).
Features & Benefits
- menox® Flameless Combustion – Flameless combustion mode activates at furnace temperatures ≥850°C (1562°F), enlarging the reaction zone and reducing peak temperatures to achieve low-NOx operation.
- Wide Capacity Range – Delivers 35 to 360 kW (132 to 1360 kBTU/h) in flame mode and 40 to 420 kW (152 to 1588 kBTU/h) in menox mode, accommodating diverse furnace load requirements.
- Preheated Air Capability – Supports combustion air preheat up to 500°C (932°F) in standard flame mode and up to 450°C (842°F) in menox mode, improving thermal efficiency.
- High Flame Velocity – Flame velocities up to 186 m/s (610 ft/s) promote effective furnace atmosphere circulation and temperature uniformity.
- SiC Ceramic Tube – Silicon carbide ceramic tube connection provides thermal and mechanical durability in demanding furnace environments.
- Nozzle-Mixing Design – Gas and combustion air mix only at the burner head, reducing the risk of flashback and improving operational safety.
- Flexible Flame Supervision – Flame rod is standard; UV sensor available as an option to suit varying system control requirements.
- Insulated Housing Option (BICW..M) – Steel body variant with internal ceramic-fibre insulation available for installations requiring additional thermal isolation.
- Low-Noise Operation – Noise levels approximately 95 dBA in open air and ~75 dBA in furnace, with reduced noise in menox flameless mode.
