Overview

The Honeywell PrimeFire 400 is a nozzle-mixing, flat-flame oxy-fuel burner designed for glass melting applications. It features a patented gas cracking technology in which a pre-combustor at the back of the burner mixes a portion of the combustion oxygen with the fuel stream prior to main combustion. This process produces free carbon particles that increase flame luminosity and improve radiant heat transfer to the glass load, resulting in higher furnace efficiency and more uniform heat distribution.

The PrimeFire 400 is available in four capacity sizes — 2, 4, 10, and 20 MMBtu/hr — and supports a 4:1 turndown ratio. The burner’s flat-flame geometry promotes extended flame coverage across the glass surface, which helps protect furnace refractory and improve product quality. The reduction in peak flame temperatures inherent to the gas cracking process also results in lower thermal NOx formation compared to conventional oxy-fuel burners.
