Overview
The Fieldbus Interface PFA 700 and PFA 710 are 19″ plug-in modules designed to integrate Honeywell Kromschröder PFU burner control units into industrial communication networks using PROFIBUS DP. Mounted in the pre-wired module subrack BGT, the PFA transmits activation signals and feedback data between burner controls and the plant PLC, enabling centralized monitoring, control, and remote diagnostics over a single standardized fieldbus cable.
The PFA 700 integrates up to nine PFU 760 burner control units for directly ignited burners, while the PFA 710 integrates up to eight PFU 780 control units for pilot and main burner applications. The BGT module subrack provides a backplane with screw terminals for reliable wiring, and the system supports bus baud rates up to 1,500 kbit/s. The PROFIBUS DP bus interface remains active even when the PFA is switched to standby mode, maintaining network communication continuity.
Features & Benefits
- 19″ plug-in module format — mounts directly in BGT module subrack alongside PFU burner control units for a compact, organized installation
- PROFIBUS DP communication — standardized fieldbus reduces development, installation, and commissioning costs compared to conventional point-to-point wiring
- Bus interface remains active in standby mode — maintains network communication even when the PFA mains switch is off
- Industrial plug connector system — allows unit exchange during bus operation without disrupting the communication network
- Remote maintenance and diagnostics — program status and fault codes displayed on integral 7-segment display; extended access via BCSoft software over optical interface
- Safety-related signals transferred independently — safety interlock and digital input signals carried via separate cables, independent of bus communication
- Password-protected parameterization — prevents unauthorized changes to parameter settings; factory default password 1234
- Manual operation mode — available for burner adjustment or fault-finding; time-limited to 5 minutes by default, deactivatable for emergency operation
- Up to 126 stations on a single PROFIBUS DP network — each station individually addressable via code switches on the PFA board
