Overview
The Honeywell Eclipse Single-Ended Radiant Tube Burner (SER) Version 5 is a compact, self-recuperative nozzle-mixing burner designed for indirect-fired industrial furnace applications. The burner and an enhanced-performance recuperator are co-axially mounted inside a single-ended radiant tube, internally transferring combustion exhaust heat back to the burner air supply in a counter-flow pattern to deliver high preheat temperatures. A unique dual-finned combustor design increases heat transfer surface area, providing exceptional heat flux and temperature uniformity across three tube diameter sizes — SER450 (4-1/2″), SER600 (6″), and SER800 (8″).
The SER V5 eliminates the need for external recuperators and insulated piping, reduces fuel costs from 35% to 55% compared to sealed ambient air burners, and cuts NOx emissions by more than 50% over conventional recuperative burners. Burners can be installed either vertically or horizontally and are compatible with metallic or ceramic outer tube configurations. The SER V5 design is also field-retrofittable to existing SER V1 and V3 installations using an adapter flange.
Features & Benefits
- Dual-finned combustor design provides increased heat transfer surface for greater fuel savings — fuel cost reduction from 35% to 55% over sealed ambient air burners
- NOx emissions reduced by more than 50% over conventional recuperative burners through internal flue gas recirculation and staged combustion
- Self-recuperative design eliminates the need for external recuperators and insulated piping, simplifying system design and reducing installation cost
- Insulated mounting flange and exhaust housing improve heat recovery and create a cooler working environment around the burner
- Ceramic inner tube sections enable higher heat flux rates and promote longer tube life compared to metallic inner tubes
- Exceptional heat flux and temperature uniformity across the radiant tube for consistent furnace heating and improved product quality
- Vertical or horizontal installation in nearly any furnace — compatible with both gas-fired and electric furnace environments
- Direct spark ignition with UV scanner flame detection for reliable automated operation
- Simple burner adjustment with integral orifice plates for straightforward commissioning
- Easy retrofit of SER V1 and V3 installations to V5 using the V1/V3-to-V5 adapter flange — no new mounting extension required
- Available in three tube diameters (4-1/2″, 6″, 8″) with radiant tube effective lengths tailored to the application
