Overview
Eclipse Open Burner Nozzles — available in Sticktite and Ferrofix designs — are flame retention type nozzles engineered for use wherever an open-type nozzle is applicable. Both designs operate with balanced or negative pressure combustion chambers and are compatible with any air/gas mixing device capable of delivering a combustible mixture at the required pressure, including low and high pressure injectors, proportional mixers, and Variset® mixers.
The Sticktite nozzle is available in cast iron and heat-resisting alloy with female threads, covering ten pipe sizes from 1/2″ through 6″. The Ferrofix nozzle features a steel shell with male threads in three thread configurations (short thread, long thread, and threaded at both ends), available in thirteen pipe sizes from 1/4″ through 6″. Both nozzle families share a built-in flame retention feature that ensures stable operation across a wide range of mixture pressures and draft conditions.
Features & Benefits
- Flame retention design ensures stable operation over a wide range of mixture pressures and draft conditions
- Sticktite nozzles available in cast iron and heat-resisting alloy with female pipe threads in ten sizes (1/2″ through 6″)
- Ferrofix nozzles available in steel with three thread configurations — short thread (Type 1), long thread (Type 2), and threaded at both ends (Type 3) — in thirteen sizes (1/4″ through 6″)
- Sticktite alloy nozzles available in 1/2″ through 2-1/2″ sizes (Type 1 only)
- Wide capacity range: Sticktite from 37,000 BTU/hr (11 kW) to 5,250,000 BTU/hr (1,540 kW) at 6″ w.c. mixture pressure; Ferrofix from 6,090 BTU/hr (2 kW) to 5,700,000 BTU/hr (1,670 kW) at 6″ w.c.
- Combustion blocks available for adaptation to refractory-lined combustion chambers
- No combustion block required for standard operation
- Compatible with premix air/gas systems — eliminates need for dedicated air supply at the burner

Additional Information
- Flame monitoring is required — it is dangerous to operate any fuel burner without suitable flame sensing device(s) and automatic fuel shut-off valve(s)
- Thermocouple flame monitoring must not be used on burners with capacities greater than 150,000 BTU/hr (44 kW)
- Eclipse (Honeywell Thermal Solutions) can supply compatible flame monitoring systems
- For air/gas ratios other than 8:1, refer to the multifactor chart in Bulletin 440
