HTS Eclipse Blowers & Boosters – Hermetic Booster
Need help selecting your product?
Overview
The Eclipse Hermetic Booster is a single-stage, centrifugal-type gas booster designed to increase the pressure of fuel gas or air/gas mixtures when supply pressure is insufficient to meet combustion system demand. Available in the standard HB Series and the digester-gas-rated DG variant, these boosters deliver gas at any volume within their capacity range with a relatively constant discharge pressure — equal to the sum of incoming gas pressure plus the booster’s added pressure.
What sets the Hermetic Booster apart is its airtight steel housing that fully encloses both the premium efficiency motor and centrifugal rotor. No shaft seal is required, eliminating a common source of leakage and maintenance. Sealed electrical connections are made through an explosion-proof conduit, and an explosion-proof junction box is included as standard. The result is a highly reliable, low-maintenance booster with a proven installation history spanning more than 80 years of Eclipse production.
Features & Benefits
- Hermetically sealed airtight steel housing — no shaft seal required, eliminating shaft seal leakage and associated maintenance
- Premium efficiency motor and centrifugal rotor fully enclosed within the housing — suitable for use with flammable gases
- Flat radial blades on the centrifugal rotor resist dirt and particle accumulation, reducing fouling in dirty gas applications
- Motor and rotor assembly slides out as a single unit without disturbing piping — simplified inspection and maintenance access
- Explosion-proof conduit connections and explosion-proof junction box included as standard — Class I, Group D rated
- Four selectable outlet positions with clockwise or counterclockwise rotation — flexible installation orientation
- UL Listed (MH10098) for use with natural gas and manufactured gas
- Epoxy coating available for digester gas, biogas, and landfill gas applications (DG variant)
- Massachusetts Board approved
- Over 80 years of Eclipse gas booster production — proven reliability in demanding industrial environments

- Combustion systems requiring flow stability across varying load conditions
Models / Configurations
- HB Series (BS) – Standard hermetic gas booster for natural gas, manufactured gas, propane/air mixtures, and Class I Group D non-corrosive gases. NPT or ANSI flange connections depending on model size.
- HB Series (DG) – Digester gas variant with epoxy-coated housing for use with biogas, landfill gas, sour gas, and other corrosive gas streams not compatible with the standard aluminum/steel wetted surfaces.
- HBLC Series – Low-capacity variant supporting high turndown ratios up to 50:1; suitable for systems with wide flow variation. Model HB-LC-3316-3/4 noted for turndown performance.
